The Property
Our property offers unparalleled views of Discovery Bay and the foothills of the Olympic Mountains . . . a place to relax, recharge and enjoy the simple things in life.
Private Beach
The south-facing private sandy beach is a true gem – perfect for long walks, picnics, bonfires, swimming (for pups and people too!), sandcastle building, clam digging (we supply buckets and shovels) and naps in the sun. You will rarely encounter another soul on our beach, and when the tides are low you can walk for miles.
Discovery Bay is also a lovely spot for kayaking and paddle-boarding (we don’t have any for rent on property but you are welcome to bring your own). We also have a large grassy area with a picnic table right above the beach.
Spectacular Views
Cabins 4, 6, and Clubhouse are all perched on the bluff and offer beautiful views of Discovery Bay and the foothills whether enjoying the sun or storm watching. Cabins 7, 10 and the Homestead House sit a bit lower on the property and offer garden vistas. The Meadow House has a serene view of a pond, pasture, barn and surrounding trees (a wonderful place to take in the colors of the cherry blossoms in the spring or the autumn leaves). It is not uncommon to see bald eagles, herons and geese soaring above Discovery Bay and the Meadow House. We have adirondack chairs and a picnic table on the bayside for everyone to enjoy the beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
heated Pool
Our heated pool is a focal point in the summer season and is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day (and if the weather cooperates at times a little later in September). We have comfy chaise lounges for sunbathing, reading and napping as well as tables, chairs and a BBQ for grilling. Bring your favorite floaties.
Please note there is no lifeguard on duty.
Dog Friendly
Chevy Chase Beach Cabins and the adjoining private beach is a haven for dogs!
We welcome dogs at Chevy Chase Beach Cabins because we are dog lovers ourselves and used to love to vacation with our furry friends (sorry no cats or other animals - dogs only)! We allow well-mannered and housebroken dogs in all seven of our vacation cottages with prior arrangement for $25/per dog per night (maximum 2 dogs per cabin). Dogs are treated to the same outstanding service as our human guests. We want all of our guests to have a fabulous and memorable stay with us, so we ask that you follow the dog guidelines to ensure that everyone on the property has a positive experience.
Additional Activites
-
Gazebo, Fire Pit & Grill Area
Spend time with family and friends grilling and hanging out in the gazebo area which has covered seating and a BBQ available year-round. It sits next to our outdoor fire pit area which is a great place to enjoy some delicious s’mores. We provide the firewood but don’t forget the fixings.
-
Outdoor Activities and Lawn Games
Looking to disconnect and enjoy a little outdoor friendly competition . . . try your hand at shuffleboard, horseshoes, or tetherball. We also have a rope-swing, swingset, a basketball hoop and a wide variety of lawn games both old school (corn hole, bocce, croquet, badminton) and some newer games like spike ball and more. There have been some epic family wiffle ball games on the lawn over the years as well.
-
Discovery Bay Golf Course
Discovery Bay Golf Course (an 18-hole, dog-friendly golf course!) is right across the street. It was originally built as part of Chevy Chase. It is the oldest public course in Washington State. Did you know that the Clubhouse cabin was the original Clubhouse for the golf course.
-
Larry Scott Trail
If you are looking for a place to walk when the tides are higher, go for a run or bike ride, our property is near the Larry Scott Trail (the trailhead is just ¼ mile up the street so you can walk, run, bike or drive and park at the trailhead). If you are motivated, you can take it all seven miles into downtown Port Townsend and reward yourself with a beverage or a bite at one of the local spots.
Parking
Our parking areas are not directly adjacent to the cabins (except for the Homestead House and the Meadow House which both have two parking spots directly next to the cabins). From the upper parking area (by the check-in area) it is a short walk across the lawn (approx. 280 feet) to Cabin 4, 7 or 10, and from the lower parking area (across from the pool) it is a short walk up a small grassy hill (approx. 120 feet to CH and approx. 215 feet to Cabin 6). We typically have guests in Cabins 4, 7 and 10 park in the upper parking lot and guests in Cabin 6 and Clubhouse park in the lower parking lot. We have luggage carts available near both parking lots to use to help get your bags to your cabin.
