Policies & FAQs

Our general policies include but are not limited to the below.

We have also included answers to many frequently asked questions.

Check in times start at 4:00 pm. Please let us know if you will be arriving later as it helps us with our staggered check-ins on busy days. We will call you when your cabin is ready for check-in. Check out is no later than 11:00 a.m. We are currently unable to accommodate early check-ins or late check-outs.

Check-in & Check-out

We provide two keys to the cabin upon check-in. The charge for a lost key is the cost to re-key the cabin. This additional cost will be charged to the card on file and varies based on size of the cabin (e.g. number of locks that have to be re-keyed).

Keys

For liability reasons and in order to ensure the best experience for all of our guests, we reserve the beach, pool, tennis court, cabins and all other facilities for exclusive use by those registered guests staying on property.

Registered Guests Only, Please

We do not allow smoking or vaping in or near the cabins and other common areas. A $250 cleaning fee will be assessed for smoking or vaping of any kind in the cabins.

Smoke-Free Property

We welcome dogs at Chevy Chase Beach Cabins because we are dog lovers ourselves and used to love to vacation with our furry friends (sorry no cats or other animals - dogs only)!

We allow well-mannered and housebroken dogs in all seven of our vacation cottages with prior arrangement for $25/per dog per night (maximum 2 dogs per cabin). Dogs are treated to the same outstanding service as our human guests. We want all of our guests to have a fabulous and memorable stay with us, so we ask that you follow the dog guidelines to ensure that everyone on the property has a positive experience.

Dog Friendly

When not under a burn ban, for liability and safety reasons, we only allow fires in our designated areas. We do not allow guests to bring their own portable fire pits or bowls, propane or charcoal bbqs. Five of the seven cabins (except 7 and 10) have Weber propane grills. A BBQ is also available for use in the gazebo area year-round.

Cancellation Policy

We are a small family owned business and it is our sincere hope that this policy is never necessary. However, due to the potential loss of income and impacts to our operations, we must uphold the following policy.

We thank you for your understanding.

Once you have reserved a cabin it is taken off the availability list and all inquiries for that period are turned away. If you are concerned about the possibility of having to cancel your reservation especially due to a last-minute cancellation, we strongly suggest that you take responsibility for this risk and obtain trip cancellation/interruption insurance. Trip insurance is available through 3rd party carriers.

Single Cabin Reservation

Cancellation / Change Policy

All cancellations (full or partial) and date changes will incur a $50 cancellation / change fee (per cabin) plus applicable tax.

Less than 30 days

If you have to cancel, shorten or move your reservation between 30 days and 2 weeks prior to your visit, you will be charged the $50 plus 50% of the total cabin rental (or released nights) to the credit card on file. We will refund you for the nights we are able to re-rent the cabin at the same rate, less the $50 cancellation fee and applicable tax.

Less than 2 weeks

If the reservation is cancelled, shortened or moved less than 2 weeks prior to your visit, you will be charged the $50 plus the full balance of the cabin rental (or released nights) to the credit card on file. We will refund you for the nights that we are able to re-rent the cabin at the same rate, less the $50 cancellation fee and applicable tax.

Regardless of Reason

This includes but is not limited to inclement weather, bad road conditions, bridge closures, acts of Mother Nature, medical reasons, death in the family, illness and/or other.

Late arrivals and no-shows will be charged the full balance

No refunds are given for late arrivals or early departures

Please reach out for our deposit / cancellation policy for group, event, holiday, longer peak season reservations and extended stays.

You are welcome to have a friend, family member, neighbor, colleague, etc. take over your reservation if you are unable to come and avoid the change/cancellation fees. These changes must be communicated to Chevy Chase in writing prior to your arrival date.

All changes/cancellations will be acknowledged in writing via email from Chevy Chase Beach Cabins. If you haven’t received a written acknowledgment of your change/cancellation please follow up as we may have not received your message and your reservation is not considered changed/canceled.

  • We have a 2-night minimum in all cabins in the quiet and mid-seasons with the exception of some holiday weekends.

For peak season minimums in Cabin 7 and 10 are 2+ nights and larger cabins (all others) are 3+ nights. When there is a cancellation/spot that opens up in our summer schedule we are looking to rebook that spot based on the number of nights that opened up (e.g. if 4 nights opened up we are looking to book the 4-night spot with one guest).

  • On occasion (such as mid-week during quiet season) we may make an exception for a one-night stay in our smaller cabins. We typically show the one-night openings on our calendar as available to book by phone in case a guest with an existing reservation wants to extend their stay.

  • Yes we do! If you are not finding a spot (anytime) or want to book a reservation for a season we haven’t yet opened up please reach out. We are happy to add you to our waitlist for either last minute or future dates. The best way to be added to our waitlist at this time is to email us at info@chevychasebeachcabins.com. Please make sure to include your name, dates you are interested in, cabin(s) of interest, number of guests that will be traveling with you and a phone number. Feel free to include any additional information that you want us to know about your request.

  • We are currently unable to accommodate early check-ins and unfortunately don’t have a place to store your things for you before your cabin is available, so please plan accordingly.

  • Cabins are self-sufficient (no daily housekeeping services). We are happy to provide fresh towels and extra supplies during your stay upon request.

  • The Meadow House is our only cabin with a washer/dryer. Otherwise, we do not have a laundry facility for guests to use on property. Need to do laundry - Mom’s Laundromat in Port Townsend offers both same day drop-off as well as coin-operated self service laundry.

  • Although the White Victorian (formerly the Chevy Chase Inn), was run as an Inn until approximately the 1950’s we don’t currently rent out rooms for guests to stay in the Inn. Pre-covid we rented out the parlors, sunroom and kitchen for weddings and events but have taken an indefinite pause on this at this time as it is our private home.

  • We are approximately a 10-minute drive or 6-7 mile walk/bike ride from downtown Port Townsend.

  • We welcome well-mannered and housebroken dogs (sorry no cats or other animals) in all seven of our vacation cottages with prior arrangement for $25/per dog per night (maximum 2 dogs per cabin). Dogs are treated to the same outstanding service as our human guests. We want all of our guests to have a fabulous and memorable stay with us, so we ask that you follow our dog guidelines to ensure that everyone on the property has a positive experience.

  • Our parking areas are not directly adjacent to the cabins (except for the Homestead House and Meadow House). From the upper parking area (by the check-in area) it is a short walk across the lawn (approx. 280 feet) to Cabin 4, 7 or 10, and from the lower parking area (across from the pool) it is a short walk up a small grassy hill (approx. 120 feet to CH and 215 feet to Cabin 6). We have luggage carts available near both parking lots to use to help get your bags to your cabin. Please let us know if you have mobility issues and we can help you make the best cabin choice.

  • We unfortunately don’t have an EV charging station nor alternate method for charging on property but there are several charging stations in and around town that our guests often use so please plan your trip accordingly.

  • We do not have a restaurant on property. If you enjoy cooking, five of our cabins (all but Cabin 7 and 10) have full kitchens and Weber Propane BBQs. For more specifics see the cabin details. There are also lots of wonderful restaurants just 10 minutes from our property. Check out our favorite local spots here. For take-out there are several restaurants on Door Dash as well as pizza delivery options.

  • Yes, all seven cabins have access to the beach via our private beach trail. It is an approximately 3-5 minute walk from the cabins on the main property to the beach and an approximately 5-7 minute walk from the Meadow House. We provide tide schedules in the cabins so you know when the best time to head to the beach is.

  • For the safety of both our human and dog guests who use the trail as well as the size of our beach trail (it is too narrow for most cars), we do not have car access to the beach.

  • We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. A credit card on file is required at the time of booking. For payments due at time of arrival we also allow cash payment. We do not accept checks.

  • We would be happy to help you with a gift certificate. Give us a call at 360-385-1270.

  • Our rates/prices vary by cabin and season. You can find rates for each cabin in the rates section below the Cabin Comforts sections on each cabin details page.

  • In addition to the nightly lodging fee which are based on “real bed” occupancy (e.g. 1 person per twin bed; 2 people per queen or king bed) we charge the following:

Cleaning Fees – we charge a one-time per visit cleaning fee for each of our units depending on size as follows:

    • $25 for studio (Cabin 7 or Cabin 10)

    • $50 for one-bedroom cabin (Cabin 4)

    • $75 for two-bedroom cabin (Cabin 6, Clubhouse or Meadow House)

    • $100 for three-bedroom cabin (Homestead)

Taxes – based on current rates in Jefferson County are 11.1%.

Extra Guest Fees – we charge $20/night per guest for extra guests above real bed capacity in cabins regardless of age. This includes (Cabin 6 - 5th guest, Clubhouse 5th/6th guest(s) and Meadow 5th/6th guest(s)). Prior arrangements need to be made. See additional information on maximum number of guests and real bed capacity in question below.

Pet Fees – $25/night per dog. See dog guidelines here for additional information.

  • The real bed and maximum capacities of the cabins are included below. We count all humans regardless of age (including infants, toddlers, children and teens) towards our maximum capacities. We count guests this way for a variety of reasons including guest comfort, liability, fire code, parity and our sensitive septic system and we unfortunately do not allow extra guests above our maximum capacity in each cabin.

    • Cabin 4 – 2 (king bed)

    • Cabin 6 – 4-5* (1 queen bed, one twin bed, and *1 in twin futon daybed in living room)

    • Cabin 7 – 2 (queen bed)

    • Cabin 10 – 2 (queen bed)

*Please note that for guests above real bed capacity (which includes Cabin 6 - 5th guest, Clubhouse - 5th/6th guest(s) and Meadow - 5th/6th guest(s) up to maximum capacity we charge $20/night per guest regardless of age.
