The Next Chapter

The rebranding of Chevy Chase Beach Cabins

2022 was a milestone year for us at Chevy Chase Beach Cabins as we celebrated 125 years of hosting guests (and their pups) and 10 years of being the stewards of this amazing place we call home. As we originally came to Chevy as guests ourselves it has always been important to us that we honor and celebrate the history of this property, maintain the beauty and spirit that we fell in love with as guests while continuing to make improvements.

We have been talking about this project for a while and it just felt like the right time (after a decade as the owners!) to refresh our branding and website. We have been heads down working on our rebranding and website redesign project for the past many months and we are so excited to start sharing our new look with you.

As we approached this project our goals were to:

  • Share and celebrate the history, beauty and spirit of the property (which is often hard to capture on a page)

  • Convey a welcoming feel as hosts and stewards of this property

  • Improve the guest experience by modernizing the technology and information provided

  • Implement a more efficient way to provide regular updates about Chevy

You will see that we tried to honor the history from the images to some of the characteristics of the fonts and colors and we were inspired by the graphics and illustrations that were used in the earlier days. We also wanted to bring our own style, design and vision to this aspect of Chevy.

We have had the pleasure of working with an amazing partner in Alex Schorndorf to help us with the design. She put in countless hours of time with us on everything from the fonts to the colors to the design of the website, letterhead, and so much more!

We love that Alex has a personal connection to Chevy as she married her husband Alex at Chevy in 2021. We got to know Alex and Alex very well as it was one of just a few weddings that we hosted here during that time as they were originally supposed to be married in 2020 but had to postpone due to the pandemic. The theme for their wedding was “Camp Alex” and the details were amazing. When we asked Alex who designed everything she responded “me” and we decided we would talk after the wedding about our next project and the rest is history.

It has been a very fun, creative and collaborative process. A great partnership among us all to come up with the new branding, website and a platform where we can make changes much more easily as time goes on.

We also want to thank the very talented Michelle Quintero for the beautiful sketches that made the elm tree, the eagle, Homestead and of course sweet Scouty come to life on the pages.

We hope you have an opportunity to peruse our new site, enjoy some of the new and vintage images, stories and more. We had fun going through literally thousands of pictures, new and old and hope that maybe one will spark a memory of your time with us here, inspire you to book another visit (we would love to see you again) or your first stay with us (we would love to host you).

Stay tuned as we have a few more surprises up our sleeves soon. 😊
